Planet Venus, the Keeper of Sacred Time

Throughout human history the unattainable and mysterious Venus represented love and feminine beauty. Numerous ancient cultures erected elaborate temples in her honor and prayed to her for protection and guidance. On the ruins of some of those Greek and Roman temples for Venus, the new Christians erected equally important churches for worship. She was known by names such as the Egyptian Hathor or Isis, the Greco-Roman Dione, Cytherea, and Aphrodite, the biblical Queen of Sheba and countless others. The names for the Sacred Feminine have changed over time, but her godly importance for the populations remained at all times high. Besides the worship and adoration she enjoyed by the masses, Venus also became the immortal goddess and princess desired by kings and villains alike. In fables, this enigmatic goddess represented an array of feminine beauty ranging from the shy virgin to the erotic harlot all the way to the respectable noble woman and even the classical widow with her son.

Although countless stories praise her beauty, charm and wisdom, for me the most important expect of Venus is her unparalleled exactness and usefulness of counting long thousands of years in the ancient Mayan and Egyptian calendars. This semi-secret and thus rarely publicized Venus Transit Calendar with its unique 121.5 year cycle is a real charm. As the planet of Beauty circles above and below the Sun it arrives in the center of our solar star and to our view she is behind it. This is the basis of the ‘cult of the Black Virgin’. For our age this special day of Venus behind the Sun was June 9th, 2008. Before this date, it happened in December of 1886. Thus, this 121.5 year rhythm of the planet Venus is one of the main secrets of the ages that the ancient astronomy priests utilized in their calculations of the specific motions of the planets of the bright starry sky.       
It is not a literary coincident that Greco-Roman mythologies had the daughter of Jupiter, the beautiful planet Venus ‘born of the sea’ marry the ugly and lame god Vulcan. The mythological marrying of the subterranean god Vulcan to the planet Venus achieved the tying of Vulcan, the ‘Core of the Earth’ to the sacred goddess.

Furthermore, since the dance of the planet Venus with her five retrograde motions in eight years was connected to the old Sun king, we attained an eastwardly alignment with the brightest star of our solar system in the center of our focus.

The Birth of Venus

Before we provide more mythological examples about the importance of the many named goddess, we would like to show the brilliant way the Ancients formatted a clever system to preserve the cycles of the planet Venus. Since, there were only two planets between our planet Earth and the bright Sun, the astronomer priests of every ancient culture knew to pick the planet Venus for long time count of a calendar. Mercury was the other planet near the Sun, but its path was fast and unremarkable for long term measures. On the other hand, planet Venus - that was the ‘Second Rock’ in our solar system – had an interesting path around the Sun that became the most important knowledge for the calendar makers.

All the other planets were behind the Earth as far as Sun is concerned, thus we have no good markers for them. The planet Venus, the sister planet of Mother Earth therefore became the measure of long cycles. Venus, the princess of planets attained a role that made her the basis of countless stories about lonely princesses, virgins and harlots that had the power of love to change the history of kingdoms.

	Figure 3: As the knowledge of the Three Venus positions in front of the Sun and behind the Sun became cemented in the minds of the star gazing astronomy priests – the stories and legends of the Two Sisters and Three Gorgons grew to world fame.  The Venus behind the Sun (2008) became the Black Virgin of religions and the VENUS TRANSITS in front of the Sun (2004 & 2012) were famous as Egyptian and Babylonian Queens and Princesses with Cow horns on their heads with the Sun in between the horns. Every even VENUS TRANSIT PAIRS in front of the Sun (243 years) produced this ‘VENUS IN FRONT OF THE SUN WHEN THE SUN IS BETWEEN THE HORNS OF THE COW / BULL in June.
	Figure 4: Thus the Egyptian Hathor and Babylonian princesses were shown with the Horn and the Sun. Due to the secret knowledge of the VENUS TRANSITS in front of the Sun 96 times – the Ancients were able to predict when the next End of an Era would happen. The Mayans made their T’zolkin Calendar that will end December 21, 2012 and that actually was the FOURTH YEAR of the Last 12 years of the HERO’s JOURNEY. The Egyptians also used that VENUS TRANSIT Calendar.
